Presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, International Trade #Automation #TheInternationalTrade #Category

On Tuesday 6th December, Investment Casting Systems Limited was presented with the award by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Devon, who congratulated ICS and presented on behalf of The King, and in memory of her late majesty the Queen, the official Queen’s Award Grant of Appointment and a commemorative crystal trophy to ICS co-founder and Chairman Mr. Ted Head.

The award, established by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1965, celebrates the country’s most exciting and innovative companies, and is Britain’s most prestigious business award. The International Trade category is awarded to companies who have achieved spectacular growth and commercial success overseas.

In his acceptance speech Mr. Ted Head gave his thanks to the Lord Lieutenant and stated that he felt exceptionally honored to have received the award, particularly as it was the last year that they were given the approval of the late Queen Elizabeth II.  He went on to thank everyone who attended and to ‘thank and pay tribute to the workforce, for working through Covid protecting their jobs and securing the future of the company’.

The group who has recently re-located from Long Road, Paignton to its brand-new facility at Claylands Way, Paignton consists of Investment Casting Systems Limited (ICS), the tool making and Aerospace moulding division and its sister companies, Versatote Moulding and Technical Composite Systems Ltd.

ICS has worked hard to gain accreditations and is recognized as a world class toolmaker by the GTMA, who is a UK based trade association representing leading companies in critical manufacturing and related products and services. In addition, ICS is certified with AS 9100 rev D, an aerospace certification for design and manufacture. The group has also recently been awarded a silver medal by Eco Vardis for its green credentials’ contribution and is now in the top 25% of companies to receive the award.

Being a local and progressive company in the Bay, ICS wishes to encourage the development of skills within engineering and manufacturing to support its future business. To this end ICS has developed an apprenticeship scheme with a dedicated training mentor for its toolmaking and design apprentices and works closely with the team at South Devon College who give a first-class support toward this objective.

Succession planning is key for any company planning for the long term. Engineering companies offer many other opportunities required to run a business which for young people entering the world of work are well worth investigating.

ICS currently has vacancies for design engineers, toolmakers and machinists and would welcome any enquires relating to these positions.

Our web site www.investmentcastingsystems.co.uk will give a good overview of ICS capabilities and what happens in the new facility in Claylands Way
