Swindon Silicon Systems, a leading mixed signal ASIC design and supply company, will once again demonstrate its support for the global electronics industry as it sponsors this year’s edition of the Elektra Awards. Now in its 20th year, the prestigious award ceremony will be held at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on November 30, 2022.

Attracting hundreds of entrants each year, the Elektra Awards is the largest of its kind and is widely recognised across the global electronics industry. Companies of all sizes are encouraged to enter and showcase their biggest achievements, with categories ranging from automotive electronics and product design to the Internet of Things (IoT) and power system products.

With a judging panel made of senior representatives from end-user organisation, consultants and industry players, the panel will focus on how companies are setting themselves apart from their competitors. The award is also supported by several industry sponsors, including Swindon Silicon Systems, who is sponsoring the award’s Design Tool and Development Software category. This recognises the industry-leading capabilities of developers of software design tools, applications and software intellectual property (IP).

“We’ve partnered with the Elektra awards for many years now and are a long-standing supporter of the Design Tool and Development Software category,” explained Richard Mount, Director of Sales at Swindon Silicon Systems. “As a custom integrated circuit (IC) company, we rely on quality software to be able to design and deliver our products. The category is fostering the skills we require to deliver quality ICs to our customers on time and to specification, so it’s vital we continue to support the burgeoning engineering talent the UK has to offer.”

With more than five decades of experience in the industry, Swindon Silicon Systems’ expertise includes Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and integrated Micro-Electro-Mechanical (MEMS) design and supply. Meeting more than half of the global demand for Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) ASICs, Swindon Silicon Systems has established itself as a market leader in its sector.

Using mixed-signal ASICs brings many technical and commercial benefits compared to standard IC or discrete solutions. Being able to match the functionality of an ASIC directly to the customer’s specification results in a more optimised performance. A custom design also means that the intellectual property (IP) can be protected. Obsolescence is less of an issue with ASICs and supply can be guaranteed for the product’s lifetime.

The arrival of Industry 4.0 provides new opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and safety across a variety of applications and sectors. It is vital that the electronics sector continues to strive for excellence and innovation to bring the success and achievements of the future.

This year’s Elektra Awards will be held at Grosvenor House, November 30, 2022. More information on the award categories and how to attend is available on the Elektra website. If you’d like to learn how a custom IC solution can work for you, please contact Swindon.
