BUMPER YEAR FOR CHAIN MANUFACTURER

Donghua Limited is celebrating a bumper trading year despite coronavirus restrictions, working from home and importing issues following Brexit.

Donghua Limited is the UK subsidiary of the Hangzhou Donghua Chain Group which is one of the world’s largest chain manufacturers, producing in excess of 40 million metres of finished chain per year. The UK arm has been trading since 2009 and has built a growing network of Approved Product Partners, Stockists and Distributors who sell the Donghua brand onto end users.

Located in Wolverhampton and employing 15 staff, Donghua moved to larger premises on the same site in 2016 which tripled their warehouse capacity to 25,000 square feet and allowed space to add further technical capabilities in their workshop.

Bob Wellsbury, managing director of Donghua Limited, puts this year’s success primarily down to their availability of stock. He explains: “We’re one of only a few chain manufacturers in the UK who can boast such a large warehouse capacity and with many companies experiencing issues and delays with importing goods, it’s been a huge benefit for us. We carry over £2 million pounds of stock which has enabled us to continue to supply our UK and Eire stockists during the year.”

He added: “Despite the ongoing pandemic, we built a new website, launched a new chain product– EXL Chain – and took on three more staff in our busy Wolverhampton sales office. I’m really pleased with how hard the whole team has worked this year.”

Like many companies, some of Donghua’s office based staff have continued to work from home, but their cloud-based IT systems meant they could carry on as normal. Whilst lockdown measures in 2020 ceased all face to face meeting with their customers, the sales team were able to get out and about during 2021 and sign up more Product Partners and Stockists.

Donghua Limited continues to grow from strength to strength and has firmly established itself in the UK market as a chain manufacturer and supplier of affordable, high quality performance chain.
