RS Components trebles its SKF bearings offering to 6,000 products with further range expansion planned

FDA-compliant Blue bearings for the food industry and spherical roller bearing for heavy-duty industries

LONDON, UK, 20 May 2021RS Components (RS), a trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), a global omni-channel solutions partner for industrial customers and suppliers, has added 4,000 SKF bearings to its portfolio, increasing the offering to a total of 6,000. This is the first step in RS significantly increasing its SKF range offer across bearings, power transmission and seals over the next 12 months.

SKF’s Blue range of food bearings follow innovative hygienic design principles and are relubrication-free. Compared to conventional designs, which can harbour contaminants such as airborne droplets, wastewater, or contaminated grease, SKF’s food bearings feature curved surfaces with a smooth finish. The ball bearings are easy to wash down, reducing the risk of bacteria build-up. Furthermore, these relubrication-free bearings are maintenance-free, which increases production uptime and product lifetime, and eliminates re-greasing material and maintenance costs.

The SKF spherical roller bearings range includes CC, CA and E design bearings, sealed bearings, and bearings designed specifically for high vibration, high speed, and wind energy applications. All designs are self-aligning, feature rugged window- or prong-type cages, and accommodate high radial and axial loads in both directions. The symmetrical rollers self-adjust, providing optimal load distribution along the roller length, and the unique profile prevents stress peaks at the roller ends. Self-guiding rollers keep friction and frictional heat at low levels. A floating guide ring guides unloaded rollers so that they enter the load zone in the optimal position.

The full range of SKF bearings includes many customised solution products, and continued innovation in product performance and applications knowledge. This combination ensures that customers are well set to achieve the on-going TCO savings that support manufacturers in their productivity and output challenges.

“Expanding our ranges of mechanical components is a major focus for RS, which will enable our customers to select the devices they need to continue to develop and innovate new equipment,” said Liam Kettlewell, Senior Director, Product & Supplier Management UK & Ireland, SKF. “Expanding SKF’s bearings and power transmission products and seals within the RS offer is another key step in our continued efforts to remain our customers’ industrial distributor of choice.”

SKF’s bearings, power transmission products and seals are shipping now from RS in the EMEA region.
