WEG ADDITION TO BP’s APPROVED VENDOR LIST HIGHLIGHTS TRUSTED REPUTATION EARNED WITHIN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY

WEG, a leading global manufacturer of motor and drive technology, has been added to the approved vendor list at petroleum giant BP. The company is now included on the BP Upstream Technically Qualified Suppliers List (TQSL) for its state-of-the-art LV (low voltage) motors.

BP, formerly known as British Petroleum, is a multinational oil and gas company headquartered in London, UK. The organisation is one of the world’s seven oil and gas “supermajors”, operating in all areas of the segment, including exploration and production, refining, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals, and power generation. BP also has renewable energy interests in biofuels, wind power and solar technology. With operations in nearly 80 countries, the company produces around 3.7 million barrels (590,000 m3) of oil equivalent per day.

“Our addition to the list of approved BP vendors is a reflection of our reputation for product innovation, reliability and quality in markets around the world,” says Elder Stringari, Global O&G Manager at WEG. “WEG is a globally recognised supplier of LV motors for the oil and gas industry. Our global structure allows us to work in close partnership with customers in this important sector. For instance, over 30 subsidiaries have been established in key countries to provide customers with technical and commercial support. Furthermore, WEG’s strategically located manufacturing plants can serve the industry with short deliveries, while our network of over 1,250 authorised service agents located on five continents are fully equipped to give prompt after sales and service support.”

WEG’s LV motor offer for the oil and gas sector will also support BP’s upstream activities. Such endeavours, which take place in 25 countries worldwide, include exploring for new oil and natural gas resources, developing access to such resources, and producing, transporting, storing and processing oil and natural gas.

WEG LV IEC and NEMA motors are qualified and the accepted scope from BP includes the following manufacturing plants: WEG Equipamentos Elétricos SA, Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil; WEG EURO Industria Eléctrica SA, Maia, Portugal; and WEG México SA de CV, Huehuetoca, Mexico.

WEG has been manufacturing advanced LV electric motors since its formation. Special attention has been given to the design of suitable motors for the oil and gas industry in various parts of the world, which is what sets the company apart. Manufacturing industrial motors compliant with the most demanding application requirements, flexible mechanical designs along with high operational reliability make WEG’s LV motors easy to install, with extremely low maintenance requirements. The motors comply with respected industry standards such as IEEE 841 and IEC60034-1.
