DiPerk bolsters leadership team with new appointment

DiPerk Power Solutions, the UK & Ireland’s exclusive distributor of Perkins engines and parts, has appointed Derek Wendel as its new leader. In his new role as the Head of DiPerk, Wendel will support DiPerk’s existing team to drive growth, grow the service business and provide the best possible experience for customers.

Wendel joins DiPerk after almost a decade working at MAN Energy Solutions, where he led aftermarket teams in the engine and marine and turbomachinery business units. For more than five years, Wendel headed up the aftermarket organisation where he was responsible for providing end to end service solutions on rotating machinery in oil & gas, industrial power and various other production applications across the UK & Ireland.

Leading a team of 40 employees across three site locations, Wendel had success in developing and implementing targeted business segment strategies to achieve significant revenue growth. In the same period, the implementation of operational efficiencies improved performance by up to 10 per cent.

Wendel started his career by studying for a Professional Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Technological University Dublin, before completing an undergraduate degree in Automotive Engineering at Oxford Brookes University. He then joined Elliott Group as a Repair Facility Engineer for EMA, working his way up to UK Field Service Manager, before moving to MAN Energy Solutions as General Manager for Field Services UK & Global. At the time of joining MAN, Derek began his MBA at Durham Business School, which he completed in 2014.

“DiPerk boasts a wealth of experience, the team truly are the Perkins engines experts,” said Derek Wendel, Distributor Principal at DiPerk. “Our OEM-certified engineers follow OEM specifications and use genuine parts for refurbishing and rebuilding engines. DiPerk stands for absolute quality, consistency and expertise — there is no better treatment for your engine.

“DiPerk operates in dynamic and highly competitive market segments,” added Wendel. “The competitiveness of the business, the strong focus on aftermarket growth and the heritage of the Perkins brand were key factors for me when deciding to join the DiPerk team. Key to ensuring the success will be achieving the right balance in maintaining our SME type agility and responsiveness whilst leveraging support from the wider organisation.”

“Derek brings a wealth of experience to the DiPerk team,” explained Gary Megarrell, Director. “His leadership experience and technical expertise put him in a strong position to support the existing DiPerk team to achieve its aggressive growth plan in aftermarket services and engines.”

DiPerk supplies, services and supports the complete range of Perkins engines, across industries including agriculture, construction, industrial and power generation. Its national network of engineers is equipped with the latest technology to perform everything from diagnostics and maintenance to engine overhaul.
