Desktop Engineering celebrates 35 years in business

Desktop Engineering Ltd (DTE) is pleased to announce that on 1st July 2021 we celebrate our 35th birthday. The company first started trading on 1 July 1986 and throughout those 35 years has supplied and supported many companies in the manufacturing sector with design, analysis and collaboration software.

Born out of the democratisation of computing, delivered by the Personal Computer, breaking the then mold of a centralised computer with dumb terminals, we have seen many changes in the industry. The continuous advances in hardware and operating systems have meant that the company has needed to continually stay ahead of these developments to meet the needs of clients.

Commenting on this anniversary Geoffrey Haines, Founder and Managing Director said

“It’s been a continual process of looking ahead and anticipating change, and we wouldn’t be where we are today without the team, past and present, who’ve been part of Desktop Engineering. We clearly captured a wave in the first decade of our existence. Then the continued advances in the technologies have meant we have had to re-engineer our business every 5-7 years.

I often say in looking back, that I am now on my fourth business with the major shifts in technology and business models that we work in. It’s been a continual process of looking ahead and anticipating change.”

The company is now leading the same change as a distributor for Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform in marketing and supporting their On Cloud solutions for this platform.

A brief history of the company is documented on our website.
