Miniaturised pressure sensors combine high accuracy with low cost

Just 66 mm long and 19 mm in diameter across flats, pressure sensors in the new PV70xx and PV80xx ranges from ifm electronic are easily accommodated even where mounting space is restricted, yet these cost-effective units provide two switch outputs with an accuracy of ± 0.5% or better and repeatability better than ± 0.05%, making them suitable for use even in demanding applications.

A further important benefit offered by the PV80xx versions is that they feature integrated temperature measurement. This means that in many applications, one sensor can do the work of two.

All PV70xx and PV80xx sensors feature robust stainless-steel housings with a measuring cell directly welded to the process connection. This seal-less design allows them to be used not only in hydraulic applications but also with inert gases. They have an IO-Link interface that gives continuous access to the pressure and, depending on variant selected, temperature values. The IO-Link interface can also be used to access other useful data, such as peak count, and for parameter setting and diagnostics.

ifm’s new sensors are available in variants which, between them, cover a pressure range of -1 to +600 bar. Models with integrated temperature measurement cover temperatures from -40 to +90 ºC. All types have an IP67/IP69K ingress protection rating and feature laser-engraved labels that remain easily legible even after prolonged operation in adverse conditions.
