What is MMSP?

Essentially MMSP (or Metering and Monitoring Service Package) is an add on to the Domestic RHI, an extra incentive used to monitor the efficiency of a heat pump based heating systems. The financial support can be given over a 7-year period to support the provision of the system, and there are several points of criteria that must be met before you can apply for MMSP. This scheme is administered by OFGEM and is a UK government scheme.

The MMSP consists of electricity meters, temperature sensors, a monitoring and communication system, and a high specification heat meter. The meter must be able to take readings at least once every 2 minutes. The ONLY heat meter approved for these packages are the Sontex SuperStatic 440 and 449. The reason? They use a unique patented static measurement principle, a principle which is like no other meter on the market. They have also been selected due to their significant glycol tolerance capability and output monitoring options.

The benefit to MMSP is being able to check how well your heat pump is performing.
