Pump Industry Awards Ceremony Postponed to Summer

Following the UK Government’s recently announced extensions to its COVID-19 induced restrictions, the BPMA and it event organiser, Touchwave Media, have agreed to further postpone its 2020/21 Pump Industry Awards Ceremony, hitherto scheduled for the evening of Thursday 25th March 2021.

Having already postponed the event twice, initially from its original date in March 2020 to early December, and then to March 2021, the decision was not reached lightly.  However, given the latest situation, and the continued disruption caused by both the pandemic and the resulting constraints, there really was little choice.

The event has now been rescheduled to the evening of Thursday 1st July 2021, with The Chesford Grange Hotel in Kenilworth again playing host to this special evening of reward and celebration.

Commenting on the decision, Steve Schofield, CEO at the BPMA said: “The health and safety of all attendees continues to be our main priority, although the credibility and presentation of the overall awards programme also remains a key consideration, especially as we look to celebrate its 20th Anniversary in the BPMA’s 80th year.”

He continued: “But with the latest round of restrictions further impacting on all events of this type, postponing our presentation ceremony by another three months, and into the warmer summer months, is clearly the only option.  I would again thank everyone for their continued support and understanding during these extraordinary times, and on behalf of everyone at the BPMA wish you a safe and healthy transition through the next few weeks and months.”

With the unwavering support of the venue, the gala awards dinner will be staged on the exact same basis, with all sponsorship, table bookings and overnight accommodation being honoured and carried forward to the new date, when the following nine awards will be presented:

  • Product of the Year

Sponsored by Process Engineering

  • Project of the Year

Sponsored by Stuart Turner

  • Environmental Contribution of the Year

Sponsored by SPP Pumps

  • Manufacturer of the Year

Sponsored by WEG UK

  • Distributor of the Year

  • Supplier of the Year

  • Contribution to Skills & Training

  • Rising Star Award

From the many entries and nominations received, the Judges shortlisted 37 Finalists across all the categories to go through to the public vote. And with the online voting already completed, the winners will now be announced during the charged atmosphere of the awards ceremony in July. The full list of finalists can be found on the dedicated awards website.

As already highlighted, this year’s awards programme celebrates its 20th Anniversary, and so despite this further postponement, we can still look forward to a wonderful evening of reward and celebration, when hopefully the health crisis will have abated, and the current constraints removed.
