London, 25 November 2020 – Multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, Cundall, has expanded its sustainability offering with the appointment of Richard Twinn. Richard joins Cundall’s UK’s sustainability team, which has grown by over 50% in the last six months as demand for sustainability services has soared.
Formally a senior manager at UK Green Building Council (UKGBC), Richard specialises in net zero carbon buildings and strategy, and has a background working across UKGBC’s policy activities on low carbon buildings and green finance. He was responsible for UKGBC’s Advancing Net Zero programme and was the lead author of Net Zero Carbon Buildings Framework. He also helped develop Lendlease’s net zero carbon pathway.
As part of Cundall’s sustainability consultancy, Richard will be responsible for bringing together the business’s world-leading embodied and whole life carbon team with its expert Building Performance group to form a holistic net zero carbon service. Richard’s understanding of policy and corporate reporting will significantly enhance our offering.
Commenting on his new role, Richard said:
“Net zero carbon has become a growing concern for businesses and public bodies over the past few years, but there are still many organisations that do not grasp the scale of the challenge ahead of us. That’s why I’m delighted to be joining a team at Cundall that is leading the way on many of these issues and can help clients to develop climate action plans that are properly aligned with the Paris Climate Agreement.
“Cundall has always been an active member of UKGBC and I’ve worked alongside them for many years. But the year ahead will be a critical one for climate action in preparation for the COP26 Summit in Glasgow. So, I’m really excited to now be part of the team and to continue working towards our shared goal of helping clients, colleagues, government and industry bodies to embrace our sustainable future.”
Simon Wyatt, Sustainability Partner at Cundall commented:
“We’re really pleased to have Richard on the team. His experience with net zero carbon strategy is invaluable and we look forward to working alongside him and to continue creating sustainable solutions for the built environment.
“While the pandemic has certainly reshaped the way we work, over the last six months the sustainability team has experienced unprecedented growth as demand for our services increases, especially around the net zero carbon agenda.”
Cundall’s sustainability consultancy currently has 79 members worldwide and they hope to continue expanding to reach the 100 staff mark within the next six months.
