(25th November 2020, Ankeny, IA, USA) Leading micro molding specialist Accumold is maintaining a high profile at a series of virtual events, working around the COVID-19 restrictions in place that are frustrating the ability for organisers to host physical exhibitions and conferences across the world.
Accumold usually undertakes an extensive calendar of event attendance across globally as it shares its insights and experience of micro molding to an industry base that is very often charged with analysing the possibilities of miniaturisation of parts and components in product development projects.
Over the next few weeks, Accumold will be contributing to the Virtual Engineering Week November 30 – December 4, IVAM’s High-tech for medical Devices Forum 9th December, and the Virtual Wearables Technologies Conference ASIA December 10-12.
At The Virtual Engineering Week event, Aaron Johnson (Vice President of Marketing & Customer Strategy at Accumold), who is recognized as a leader on the subject on micro injection molding — and has developed and presented numerous technical presentations on micro molding technology — will discuss the topics of driving miniaturisation to the next level, and the enabling benefits of micro molding.
Johson says, “With the pressure on design engineers to deliver smaller, lighter and more cost-effective components many are turning to micro injection molding for support. Through a series of case studies my presentation at the Engineering Week event will explore the advantages micro injection molding can provide. Case study examples include: pushing the limits with size, high-volume with high-quality, and an exploration of overmolded/insert molded components (including metal, mesh, fabric, glass and other fine media). When reviewing the enabling benefits of micro molding, I will look at what makes micro molding different from standard injection molding, and will explore the subtleties of micro molding and the keys for navigating a successful project. The presentation will define micro molding, how to approach design, and feature case study examples for review.”
It the IVAM Forum, Johnson looks at the enabling benefits of micro molding. While serving numerous industry sectors where there is a drive towards increasingly complex and increasingly small parts and components, Accumold has been involved with the manufacture of ground-breaking and highly innovative products on behalf of an array of companies from leading SME’s to large multi-national blue-chips. Johnson in his IVAM presentation analyses what opportunities exist when using micro molding in exacting industrial applications.

During my presentation at the Virtual Wearables Technologies Conference ASIA, I will discuss the fact that most companies do not have innovators that can produce small scale parts, small features on larger parts, or the achievement of micron-level tolerances in their existing supply chains, so tend to abandon projects that look too challenging. What they are unaware of is the fact that there exist a few companies that excel in micro molding such as Accumold that can overcome perceived roadblocks and which as true product development partners can actually realise the manufacture of what some customers perceive as impossible.”
