EXPANSION IS NO PIPE DREAM FOR YORKSHIRE BUSINESS AT THE FOREFRONT OF HOSE PRODUCTION

A West Yorkshire manufacturer of innovative, high grade hoses that can withstand the most corrosive and toxic substances on the planet, is embarking on a major expansion programme after relocating to state of the art premises, and the company now plans to create new jobs and grow turnover.

PTFE Flex has produced and sold more than 1 million completely bespoke polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) hoses since it was founded in 2013 by managing director Terence Chadwick.

Technology in the company’s hoses means they are non-stick, highly heat-resistant, insulate against electricity and they don’t wear, as well as being impervious to even the most aggressive chemicals and acids. As a result, they can be used to transfer all types of liquids ranging from water to hydrochloric acid and food ingredients to fuel in jet engines.

PTFE Flex now has a turnover of more than £1million and is on target to increase this significantly by 2022. The company currently employs a team of six highly skilled members of staff and plans to expand this further in line with its ongoing growth.

PTFE Flex has just completed a move to a brand new 7,000 sq ft industrial unit at Bridge Business Park in Huddersfield. It was previously based in a 1,700 sq ft unit at Wellington Park Business Park on Sticker Lane in Bradford.

In addition, the company has developed a very close supply partner in Kongsberg Automotive, which is a giant in the supply of hoses to the automotive industry and PTFE bulk hose manufacture.

Terence explained: “In just six years we have established a reputation as one the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of PTFE hoses. Every single hose that we produce is custom made for a specific application and we now supply many of the major chemical plants and pharmaceutical factories, throughout the UK and beyond, as well as establishing an extensive client base across a wide range of other industries.

“After spending more than 20 years working in this industry, six years ago I decided to take the plunge and start PTFE Flex and I have never looked back. Expanding into newly developed premises, after significantly outgrowing our previous site, is the latest chapter in our on ongoing growth and is a very exciting opportunity for us. The new premises will enable us to continue building our production capabilities and further enhance the quality of our products and the high levels of service that our customers enjoy.”
