- Doncaster CarShop celebrates its 10th birthday this November
- The store has raised over £37,993 for local charities in the past decade
- Over 600 jobs have been created by the store throughout the years
On the 7th of November, Doncaster-based used car supermarket CarShop celebrates its 10th birthday, after opening its forecourt back in 2009.
From the very beginning, CarShop Doncaster was the largest car supermarket in the town – giving residents an unprecedented choice and knowledge in automotive purchases, as well its highly entertaining opening.
Doncaster’s opening event started the legacy on a high, being headlined by Ruth Lorenzo and Austin Drage from that year’s X Factor series, and it even featured an appearance from Titan the Robot.
It was the first CarShop store to be opened in Yorkshire – which is now also home to stores in Wakefield and Sheffield due to Doncaster’s success in the area.
Since then, the Doncaster location has been providing a friendly, no-jargon-allowed car buying experience to all of its loyal customers.
CarShop Doncaster has sold 33,522 cars to their community, a testament to their customer-focussed and relaxed sales process – creating over 600 local jobs in the process.
Due to the location’s impressive success, the supermarket has evolved, becoming CarShop’s second-largest location in the UK – a centralised Contract Centre was created back in 2011, which employs almost 50% of the colleges at the Doncaster store and has a dedicated central Service Centre team, as well as opening their specialist Service Centre in 2012 with great success.
Since CarShop launched their CarShop Cares programme back in 2016, CarShop Doncaster has been heavily committed to working with local charities, alongside national ones, to put back into its local community.
Over the last three years since CarShop Cares launched, CarShop Doncaster has worked with charities such as Bluebell Wood and Global’s Make Some Noise and has raised a staggering total of £37,993 for local and national causes in this short time.
However, Doncaster was dedicated to charity work before this programme, launching fundraising events such as the 5K run for Dreamlight which raised £22,198.02 through the efforts of the store and four other CarShop locations.
Many wonderful and wacky events have happened throughout the last decade – such as the store’s visit from popular influencer Sam Taylor, the location providing vehicles to Doncaster college, and plenty of fancy dress days for charity – what began as a car supermarket has become a staple of the Doncaster community, and a one-stop-shop for motorists in the area.
Liane Scott, Brand Experience Manager at CarShop Doncaster, said: “We’re so proud to say that CarShop Doncaster has been open for a full decade – and has achieved so much over that time.
“It’s been fantastic to look back at all of the colleagues and customers that have joined us throughout the years, as well as the important work we have done with local causes in the area that really mean a lot to us.
“We hope to keep up the good work and give our customers a tailored and relaxed buying experience, without the stress and jargon – just a helping hand that’s there if you need it, and lots of support throughout the process.
“Thank you to all of our customers and colleagues who have made the past decade so fantastic.”
