SOURIAU expands its range of JMX push-pull connectors for the medical market

After being launched in the first quarter of 2017, JMX Plastic, SOURIAU’s very first range of connectors for
electronic medical equipment gained attention at the Compamed trade show in Düsseldorf that same year.
SOURIAU used this year’s edition of Compamed to announce that it has added larger sizes to its JMX
Plastic range to meet an inrush of new electronic medical equipment that requires a higher contact density in
order to be powered. In addition to offering advanced technical features and compliance with IEC 60601-1
and UL94 V-0, these JMX connectors have been carefully designed to meet the aesthetic and functional
requirements of medical device manufacturers.
SOURIAU is a leading supplier of cable interconnect and assembly solutions for a wide range of high-
performance equipment and harsh environments.

In particular, SOURIAU possesses extensive experience in push-pull locking connectors thanks to its metal,
JDX and JBX series adapted to industrial applications. It mobilized its expertise to develop a range of
medical electrical connectors that were applauded for their quality and reliability when they were introduced
in 2017. ISO 13485 certification was awarded very quickly thereafter.

The JMX Plastic family of connectors has an IP rating of IP68, withstands 2,000 mating cycles and resists
steam autoclave sterilization according to IEC 60601-1 (up to 200 ergonomic cycles). Continuous
developments in medical devices and the constant influx of new equipment on the market create tremendous
opportunities for these connectors. SOURIAU is maximizing these opportunities by offering new sizes. The
range used to consist of nine arrangements of two power contacts and 12 signal contacts. It now features 24
arrangements and up to 19 signal contacts. In addition, a mix of signal and power contacts in the same
arrangement is now possible. JMX connectors are designed for use on all medical devices that come into
contact with patients—diagnosis and monitoring equipment, scanning equipment, mammography equipment,
and vascular testing equipment. They can also be used on catheters during surgery, during chromatographic
analysis in laboratories and in physiotherapy, on laser generators, and liposuction devices.

Perfectly safe connections

JMX connectors guarantee safe connection and disconnection to and from equipment by healthcare workers
with just one hand. When pushed in, an audible click confirms that they are securely mated. To disconnect,
simply push and pull on the plug. The 9 color-coding rings available prevent mismatching of plugs and
receptacles.
