Business aviation’s first 4K CMS system: Collins Aerospace gives Bombardier Global 5500 and Global 6500 passengers an immersive entertainment experience

  • Collins Aerospace is first-to-market with Venue CMS 4K video capabilities
  • Flexible and adaptable to future technology

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 22, 2019) – Collins Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), will debut its first-to-market 4K video offering on Bombardier’s new Global 5500 and Global 6500 aircraft cabin. This new capability on Collins Aerospace’s VenueTM Cabin Management System (CMS) provides customers sharper images, more vibrant colors, and a cinematic and immersive entertainment experience. Compared to a full HD 1080p image, 4K resolution provides four times the pixels, making for a clearer and more defined picture. “With Venue, we are striving to anticipate customer demands while remaining adaptable for future technologies in the business jet and V/VIP market,” said Christophe Blanc, vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems for Collins Aerospace. “This implementation continues a long history of working successfully with Bombardier to provide innovative solutions that contribute to setting them apart in the market.”

Venue is currently the most fielded CMS with more than 1,300 aircraft currently equipped. Venue has been customized for Bombardier to best meet the needs of its passengers and to offer the same ultra-fast, flexible, reliable and intuitive system.

The Global 5500 and Global 6500 jets are the latest additions to Bombardier’s renowned and industry-defining Global family of aircraft and offer the widest cabins in their class, the revolutionary Nuage seat and a luxurious interior designed for the most refined in-flight experience.

The Global 5500 and Global 6500 aircraft recently received their certifications from Transport Canada and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and entered service on September 30, 2019.
