Engineering firm Gilkes invest in online overhaul, boosting sales

International engineering firm Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon Ltd has invested in a major overhaul of their online platform as part of plans to drive growth.

The firm has been working with digital marketing firm Fat Media to re-design their site, and launched a new online platform which has seen enquires up by 72%.

Gilkes works in over 85 countries, has a Royal Warrant and is one of the world leaders in hydro power and pump applications.

Fat Media re-designed the Gilkes website, improving navigation, usability, and really showcasing the business to help increase website traffic and drive sales.

The new site layout has clearer navigation with a mobile first approach. Content on the pages was also changed to offer more engaging information about the products and solutions Gilkes offers. In particular, Fat Media invested a lot of time in creating a more interactive and easier ways to navigate detailed information such as case studies on projects.

Fat media account manager, Andy Frobisher led the work, he said: “Gilkes is an amazing business with an incredible heritage of over 166 years. They have international renown and boast a royal warrant, what they wanted from the website was to really showcase that heritage and expertise.

“It was vital for Gilkes to showcase their past work as they have some incredible case studies which really help support sales for the business, but we needed to help users navigate quickly to the information they needed on past projects. We developed an interactive map of case studies where users can easily navigate to the details they want, and also see at a glance the international scope of work being undertaken.”

Since the new website has been relaunched, traffic to the site has been up 15% based on the same previous period and online enquiries have been up by 72%.

Julia Chaplin, marketing manager at Gilkes said: “Fat Media guided us through the challenging process of creating a new website. We now have a fresh, engaging site for both our hydro and pump audiences to learn about our solutions, applications and products.   Although demanding at times, it was one of the most enjoyable projects I have worked on with the Fat Media team. We are particularly pleased with our new ‘our stories’ page; demonstrating our projects around the world.”
