RS Components introduces easy-to-use Tektronix oscilloscopes for debugging and analysis

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), a global multi-channel provider of industrial and electronic products and solutions, has announced availability of two brand-new ranges of test and measurement devices from Tektronix: the 3 Series MDO (mixed-domain oscilloscope) and the 4 Series MSO (mixed-signal oscilloscope).

Created to suit a wide range of demanding debugging and signal analysis applications at an affordable price, the scopes offer the largest display sizes in their class and highly intuitive touchscreen user interfaces, as well as excellent performance and advanced analysis capabilities. The design of the scopes is based upon the award-winning industrial design that Tektronix introduced in its 5 and 6 Series MSOs. In particular, they implement touchscreens and front panels that make the tool very easy to use with key controls readily available, rather than forcing engineers to search through multiple menus to find the right settings.

Key features of the 4 Series MSOs include a 13.3-in display with 1920 x 1080 HD resolution, the use of 12-bit ADCs and bandwidths starting at 200MHz and going up to 1.5GHz. It is also the first scope in its class to offer six input channels, as well as the company’s innovative FlexChannel™ technology, which enables any input channel to be converted to eight digital channels via the connection of a logic probe. Support is also offered for options such as serial decode and analysis, arbitrary/function generator and DVM/frequency counter. In addition, the device’s Spectrum View delivers time-correlated frequency domain analysis with independent spectrum controls; and a power analysis package is also available to automate AC line, switching device, ripple and sequencing measurements.

The 3 Series MDOs offer a 11.6-in HD display, a similar set of knobs and buttons to the 4 Series, but also come with a depth of less than 6 inches, therefore not taking up too much room on the desktop. Available in bandwidths starting at 100MHz and extending to 1GHz, other key features include a built-in spectrum analyser up to 3GHz with a separate RF input and specifications comparable to a standalone analyser, which allows engineers to quickly debug components or find unwanted EMI emissions without having to use another instrument. Various models are available offering 2.5-GS/s or 5-GS/s rates on all analogue and digital channels.

Both the 3 Series MDOs and 4 Series MSOs, and associated software, are available to order now in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
