The NEVADA process (Neutralisation et Valorisation des Déchets d’Amiante – neutralization and valorization of asbestos wastes), at the heart of the circular economy, consists in operating a clean eco-industrial process for neutralising and recycling asbestos waste. The Neutramiante Company and the De Dietrich Process Systems Group have come up with a clean, sustainable and cost-effective solution to solve a public health problem that is currently stalled: The irreversible eradication of asbestos waste.
The two partners, through the implementation of a clean eco-industrial process, follow the recommendations of the European Economic and Social Committee and the European Commission which recommend the search for sustainable technologies for the treatment and inerting of asbestos-containing waste for safe recycling and reuse and up to including the disposal of this asbestos waste in landfills, thus making owners and operators irresponsible.
After years of R&D, Neutramiante has a portfolio of patents with a broad international scope, and has carried out conclusive studies on waste neutralisation and the recovery of co-products.
On April 02, 2019, the NEVADA process was also chosen by the jury of the Innovation and Recycling Trophies, aimed at bringing out innovative projects in the service of a circular economy, these trophies are organized by FEDEREC and placed under the High Patronage of Richard FERRAND, President of the French National Assembly
The company De Dietrich Process Systems, whose expertise covers the processes conception, design, achievement of key equipment, installation and commissioning of the industrial system has come at a later stage to bring its expertise to industrialize the discovery.
This non-polluting innovation can be fixed or mobile and aims to provide high-performance solutions in different areas of application and for all types of asbestos waste in four key aspects:
- Operators safety
- Functionality of fixed and mobile units including maritime neutralization and recovery of asbestos waste,
- Optimization of the physico-chemical neutralization process of asbestos waste and extraction of recoverable products,
- Economic and environmental performance of industrial units.
The joint action of the two companies resolutely supports the development of:
- An eco-industrial strategy for the viable, competitive, definitive and irreversible disposal of asbestos waste,
- The valorization of the inert solid material obtained in depollution products,
- The valorisation of the magnesium, material of the future, contained in the liquid solution resulting from the treatment of asbestos.
This waste, wso dangerous for health, will thus be usefully transformed into magnesium salts or oxides, into zeolite-type molecular sieves or gypsum and anhydrite used by cement producers, in particular to limit the emanation of CO2.
According to Frédéric Guichard, Business Development Director of the De Dietrich Group , «We are very happy to contribute to the elimination of this public health and environmental problem for the benefit of all and by creating a new innovative eco-industrial sector.»
The two partners are now looking for a third, investor and / or stakeholder in the asbestos waste treatment sector, to install a first treatment unit as part of a collaborative project.
The teams thus formed will be in charge of implementing a first unit for final disposal of all types of asbestos waste and their recovery downstream, thus eliminating landfill.
