With the innovative combination of laser scanner and software, users can view, quality control and prepare data directly in the field using a tablet computer. Downstream, the data is then fully immersed within the single platform of Leica Cyclone office processing software, ensuring no data is lost between transfers from one interface to another.
“With the integration of the BLK360 and Cyclone FIELD 360, Leica Geosystems continues to innovate and find ways to provide increased offerings to their 3D reality capture workflow,” said Scott Cohen of ABG Tag and Traq Inc, an already-existing BLK360 user. “We’re confident that this workflow enhancement will be recognised across a wide variety of our future projects.”
The link between scanner and software
The Cyclone FIELD 360 mobile-device app forms a link between 3D data collection in the field using the BLK360 and data registration in the office using the Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360 post-processing software. Recently awarded with an iF Design Award, the app’s user interface makes collection, registration and review of captured data on a mobile device simple and easy to understand. As a result, the system provides a positive user experience in the field of 3D reality capture, even to inexperienced users.
“The popular BLK360 imaging laser scanner easily and quickly captures data with a direct connection to Cyclone REGISTER 360 office registration software,” said Gerhard Walter, Leica Geosystems product manager for Cyclone FIELD 360. “Now, with this new integration into Cyclone FIELD 360 mobile-device app, BLK360 users are able to stay within one familiar interface and benefit from the wider Leica Geosystems laser scanning ecosystem.”
