SPS IPC Drives Italia 2019: WEG highlights importance of drive selection to boost efficiency in electric motor-driven systems

WEG, a leading global manufacturer of motors and drive technology, will demonstrate at SPS IPC Drives Italia the breadth of its comprehensive range of drives and soft starters, and underline how they can be combined with electric motors for key applications. For example, the company will showcase its easy-to-configure CFW11 variable-speed drives (VSDs) and Pump Genius process control software to improve energy efficiency in pump applications.

Visitors to the WEG stand (H027 in Hall 6) will also be presented with useful guidance on how to select the right automation components to boost efficiency and reliability in electric motor-driven systems. Alongside live demonstrations of automation solutions, the company plans to highlight case studies to illustrate how correctly matched motors and drives can be easily integrated into existing systems in some of the most demanding industrial applications. WEG will also illustrate how it can build panels to customer specification and develop ‘add-ons’ to adapt drives to specific applications.

The drive towards improved customer education is at the heart of a new company microsite, which centres around a new eGuide on automation that WEG will provide as a printed guidebook at SPS. The information emphasises how WEG’s drives can easily interface with most PLCs on the market, thanks to open communication protocols, offering a flexible and easy-to-integrate automation solution.

‘Improving energy efficiency remains a top priority for machine builders and system integrators across industries: choosing drives and motors that are fit for purpose is key to achieving this goal,’ comments Fabrizio Arosio, Automation Business Manager at WEG Italy. ‘As one of the leading manufacturers of motor and drive technology we are ideally placed to give machine builders and system integrators the complete solutions and expert advice they need to make their electric motor-drive systems more reliable and efficient.’

Last year, WEG used SPS as a platform to announce its proprietary Motor Scan technology, which closely monitors the performance and condition of WEG motors via a capture of real-time operational data to enable better accuracy on any required maintenance. Phase 2 will be available in third quarter of 2019 and includes an option to use a gateway.

SPS IPC Drives Italia will be held from 28 to 30 May in Parma. Messe Frankfurt Italia, organiser of the trade fair, confirms a further expansion of the show this year for its ninth annual edition with six pavilions and more than 800 exhibitors confirmed.
