“I’m proud that we’ve been able to prove, alongside our customer, that our composite material, DAYComp, delivers a service life at least 4.9 times longer, cutting costs by over 50%,” says Frederick Wilkinson, Managing Director of Dayton Progress Europe.
With DAYComp, an innovative composite material for sliding elements, DAYTON PROGRESS is raising the bar in metal forming technology. A recent project with a leading Tier-1 automotive supplier highlights how DAYComp excels in demanding applications involving high-strength steel with a thickness exceeding 3 mm.
Impressive Results from Comparative Testing
- 177,916 strokes: DAYComp endured nearly five times longer than traditional bronze sliding plates with solid lubricants, which lasted just 36,100 strokes.
- Over 50% cost savings: Achieved through fewer maintenance intervals and an extended service life.
The Tier-1 supplier faced significant challenges with the wear and limited lifespan of conventional bronze sliding plates. Thanks to DAYTON PROGRESS’s expertise and the advanced properties of DAYComp, these obstacles were overcome with remarkable success.
“DAYComp is more than just a material – it’s a game-changer that combines efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. Together with our customers, we’re solving tough challenges and driving long-term success,” Wilkinson adds.
A Breakthrough in Sustainability and Efficiency
Beyond its outstanding durability, DAYComp offers sustainable benefits, including full recyclability and a reduced CO₂ footprint. Its lightweight composition – eight times lighter than bronze – and local European production help lower transport costs while supporting the industry’s sustainability goals.
