~ CP Automation to raise awareness at RAF Cosford event ~
To raise awareness of the dangers of supraharmonics in electrical systems, power quality specialist CP Automation will give a technical seminar on how to mitigate the risks of supraharmonics at RAF Cosford Museum, Shropshire, on October 2, 2024. At the show, called “High Voltage Maintenance — designing for the cloud”, CP Automation will also share a stand with partner and fellow power quality expert Powerside, where the PQube 3 power analyser, SineTamer and other solutions will be showcased.
The show is aimed at those in the building and site maintenance industry, such as senior site engineers, FM contract managers and procurement staff. The agenda will focus heavily on systems engineering and critical environment maintenance, particularly how engineers can protect their assets.
After a packed morning, John Mitchell, CP Automation’s global sales and marketing director, will give a talk on supraharmonics and the risk to critical assets. Supraharmonics are voltage and current waveform distortions in the frequency range from 2 up to 150 kHz, which can cause a wide variety of issues within a plant.
“In recent years, supraharmonics have become a growing concern for industrial facilities,” explained John Mitchell, global sales and marketing director at CP Automation. “The Engineering Recommendations G5/5 extended the values for planning and compatibility levels to the 100th order (5 kHZ), an area most power quality devices cannot read. Therefore, most engineers unknowingly can’t measure supraharmonic noise because their equipment can’t measure this far up the spectrum.
“At the show, we want to shine a light on the gap between harmonics and EMC, showing why power quality measurement is crucial for asset maintenance,” added Mitchell. “We’re looking forward to being a part of it —and imparting our expertise on the day.”
CP Automation will be joined on the day by power quality specialist and partner Powerside. In the morning. Powerside’s business development manager EMEA, Lino Cortese, will also be giving a talk on power grid measurement and reporting. He will be showing some case studies on how Powerside’s cloud-based QubeScan has helped its customers improve their visibility and measurement of power quality.
