In a bid to further optimise the value chain for panel builders, EPLAN has developed the Panel Building Automation Matrix (PAM) which is a business consultancy platform that can improve manufacturing times by up to 40%. Developed on the basis of research conducted in a field study that involved 150 benchmarked panel builders from around the world, PAM can be used to analyse, in just a few minutes, the individual requirements of customer-specific processes in panel building. PAM facilitates digitisation throughout the entire value chain and guarantees data consistency across all processes and systems.
PAM offers analysis and evaluation of the current workflow for manufacturing control panels with the aim of increasing profitability and efficiency. The evaluation includes recommendations for optimisation, their implementation and details of the investment needed. Customers can see lists of exact time savings in a variety of areas within the workflow – including wiring, device labelling and NC production. An accurate ROI analysis is also included.
EPLAN has been offering PAM globally since early May 2019 and the feedback from the first customers in the USA is enthusiastic: Jacob Wilson, Director of Engineering, Sales and Development at Design Ready Controls, says: “PAM was able to exactly reproduce our current operations and manufacturing times after just a twenty-minute evaluation.”
The enthusiastic customer response has motivated EPLAN and Rittal to add more process steps to the analysis in the future. Plans include integrating additional software tools from Rittal – as well as an ROI review for purchasing the new Rittal Wire Terminal alongside and the fully automatic Perforex machining centre.
