SIEMENS UNVEILS NEW SOLUTIONS AT HANNOVER MESSE

This year’s theme at Hannover Messe was, ‘Digital Enterprise – Implement Now’. Under this, Siemens provided a comprehensive overview of its extensive portfolio to effectively demonstrate how companies of different sizes and sectors of industry can improve their competitiveness with digitalisation solutions.

As part of this, Siemens unveiled a number of new product solutions and future concepts at the 2018 Hannover Messe.  They included:

Digital Enterprise

These products and solutions have been specifically designed to enable users to harness the potential of Industry 4.0 by implementing digital enterprise solutions through the entire product lifecycle.

  • The launch of Mindsphere Version 3.0 – Siemens’ open, cloud-based operating systems which is now available on Amazon Web Services.  Version 3.0 offers a more powerful development environment with open programming interfaces, additional analytical features and extended connectivity.

Controllers

  • The Simatic S7-1500 Advanced Controller portfolio now has two new technology CPUs for motion control tasks.  They combine standard, safety and motion control functionalises in a single device to help overcome challenging automation applications.

  • New redundancy controllers for mid-sized and large automation applications.  Three new CPUs for redundant automation applications mean that in the event of a CPU failure, the back-up CPU automatically takes control of the process with no data loss.

Drives

  • Siemens has extended its portfolio of Simotics synchronous-reluctance motors to included two new shaft heights.  This is to satisfy market calls from pump, fan, compressors and machine builder manufacturers for different shaft height choice.

TIA – Totally Integrated Automation

  • Siemens has enhanced its TIA Portal V15.1 engineering framework to include new simulation and virtual commissioning options to create even better digital design of integrated work processes.
