Shaping the future theme for BULKEX 2018 in Year of Engineering

The Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) has announced its theme for BULKEX 2018 to support the Year of Engineering.  Shaping the Future has been selected to align with Year of Engineering’s theme of the same name for October, when BULKEX 2018 takes place.

The Year of Engineering is a government campaign which celebrates the world and wonder of engineering.   The MHEA has signed up as a partner to support the campaign with other industry leaders and influencers, to demonstrate the breadth and vibrancy a career in engineering can bring.

President of the MHEA John Connolly stated: “Working in engineering is exciting, rewarding and creative. We need the next generation of innovators and problem solvers to join the industry and help shape the future of the world we live in.   The MHEA is proud to support this worthy year-long campaign and will be encouraging members to join in with the activities, themes and opportunities to engage with the Year of Engineering.  Choosing Shaping the Future as the theme for this year’s BULKEX and introducing Engineer of the Year as a new category in the MHEA Excellence Awards supports the high-profile engineering focus for the bulk materials handling industry during 2018.”

The BULKEX 2018 Conference and Exhibition will take place between 17th and 18th October at the Eastwood Hall Hotel, Nottinghamshire, and is a must-attend event for anyone concerned with bulk materials handling.  During the event, the MHEA will also be hosting its 80th Anniversary Excellence Awards Dinner.  Entries for the Excellence Awards are open until 31 July 2018 and full details, including the categories and the entry form, can be found on the MHEA website.

The Year of Engineering has many events on and over the course of the year, you have the chance to take a closer look at engineering and the variety of opportunities on offer. The campaign is encouraging children, students, teachers, parents, and business people to get to know one of the UK’s most innovative industries with open days, talks and activities happening across the country.
