Data and workflows for Industry 4.0

The new Rittal VX25 large enclosure system supports the control and switchgear engineering industry on the path toward Industry 4.0.

The new system combines a physical enclosure with its digital twin, ensuring it will meet all future digital needs – from online configuration and engineering to assembly, automation and tracking.

Rittal has created a system capable of merging real and physical workflows – delivering significant improvements in efficiency for panel builders and switchgear manufacturers.

The VX25 ensures 3D data is available in consistent maximum quality. The digital element supports control and switchgear manufacturers across every process along their value chain. This means electrical planning, mechanical design, purchasing, cost calculation and manufacturing, as well as every other area of switchgear construction, can always access complete, high-quality data. That capability then opens up new ways for end-users to digitise their processes in accordance with Industry 4.0.

Maximum data quality

Efficient designing and planning is supported through the easy download of detailed, validated 3D CAD data (Rittal website or EPLAN data portal), the flexible data transmission in all common CAD systems (a total of 70 formats), the mechatronic engineering with CAE/CAD, the generation of enclosure layouts with EPLAN Pro Panel, as well as data classification according to eClass and ETIM, all.

Error-free configuration

The web-based Rittal Configuration System (RiCS) enables simple and error-free configuration of the VX25 and the desired installation components – even without any knowledge of CAD.

The required planning security is ensured by integrated plausibility checks that provide direct feedback, ensuring that the solution has a high level of reliability. Rittal has also simplified the ordering processes by linking it to the online shop, as well as with web-based conversion tools to support a changeover from the TS 8 to the VX25 large enclosure system.

Easy tracking

Validated configuration and engineering results then provide the basis for the automatic controlling of machines at plant construction production facilities. The VX25 panels are equipped with a QR code to optimise the value creation processes within control and switchgear engineering.  Production control and traceability is conceivable in future within control and switchgear engineering. Using the QR code, it will be possible to align the components of the enclosure to a specific order or customer project. This will allow the components to be tracked through the complete workflow, to be assigned to the correct editing programs and for the processing times to be recorded.
